Unfortunately, without insurance, we more than likely, cannot facilitate an appointment in the private rooms. This is because, if the patient requires surgery, the cost is prohibitive for most people ($18,000 - $45,000 as a guide only which includes the theatre fees, hospital costs, implants if required, surgeons fee and the anaesthetist fee).
Of course, a few patients are able to finance the full out of pocket costs and if this is the case, we can continue with the triage process through the private rooms.
If your patient prefers to be seen in the public system with no associated costs, it is best you refer them to the Outpatient Clinic located near their Medicare address to be triaged by the registrars. A/Prof Winder & Dr Lukins have Outpatient Clinics once a month.
Please note: public & private pituitary tumour patients are accepted at St Vincent's hospital regardless of where they live in Australia due to St Vincent's being a specialised Pituitary Centre.
